EIT HEALTH SPAIN
EIT HEALTH SPAIN
EIT Health is a vast, vibrant community of world-leading health innovators backed by the European Union. We collaborate across borders to connect and enable the brightest minds from the worlds of business, research, education, and healthcare delivery to answer some of Europe’s biggest health challenges.
Our community includes approximately 130 world-class Partner organisations and works across borders to connect business, research, and education. We call this meeting point the ‘knowledge triangle’ because it’s where life-changing innovation flourishes.
At EIT Health Spain, we aim to be the reference body that brings together and mobilises the relevant players of the health innovation value chain in Spain, from the public and the private sectors, to drive and generate technology transfer, social and economic impact, and improve the quality of life of European citizens.
We want to overcome obstacles to innovation so we can improve healthcare delivery in Europe and make life-changing solutions possible. By working together, we can remove barriers across borders to create a more resilient and dynamic European healthcare system.
European citizens and patients sit at the centre of our organisation. We engage people at every stage; raising awareness, sharing knowledge and creating the tools, treatment and breakthrough solutions for healthy living and active ageing
We want to create a fertile environment in which innovation can flourish. By building health enterprises and bringing innovative products and services to market, we can create new jobs to grow and strengthen a sustainable European economy.
As society continues to evolve, so must our healthcare systems. We are defining new models of healthcare delivery and implementing robust analysis of existing databases. Our work is underpinned by the concept of value-based healthcare, where success measures are based on patient outcomes, and focus shifts from treatment to prevention.
We support digital health transformation in Europe and focus on the development of, and access to, digital health medical devices. We are exploring how we transform, harmonise, and strengthen processes around this. This includes how certified devices are reimbursed and how clinical trial outcomes can be translated across borders to facilitate reimbursement.
We are supporting the implementation of the European Health Data Space, harnessing the power of health data to drive innovation and help us develop solutions that deliver outcomes that matter to patients. We will drive awareness of how data sharing can inform and improve care pathways among patients, citizens, and healthcare professionals.
INNOVATION HIGHLIGHTS
ABLE technology is an affordable, lightweight and easy-to-use robotic exoskeleton, that helps people living with spinal cord injury to walk, stand up from their wheelchair, and sit down. EIT Health has supported ABLE from the start, helping turn their idea into a validated solution and supporting them with the steps required for market validation, clinical trials and in obtaining the CE mark.
HARMONICS is a stroke ecosystem high-value care solution that consolidates standardisation and harmonisation of clinical processes, KPIs and outcome measurements together with effective data collection and health economic evaluation. EIT Health is supporting the solution implementation of the post-hospital level (home hospitalisation, patient follow-up and patient engagement) in stroke centres of two European regions (Catalonia and Coimbra).
FiSPlat is a non-invasive primary care tool designed to diagnose early-stage liver cirrhosis known as liver fibrosis. EIT Health has supported the solution from the start, with the steps required for market validation, clinical trial, obtaining the CE mark, accessing the European market, and its commercialisation.
Innobics-SAHS is creating an innovative healthcare pathway for the early diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome in primary care. The team is developing a digital platform with communication tools for primary care and hospital sleep units, with integrated data-related tools for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring, including a virtual sleep unit. EIT Health is supporting the design, development, and testing of the solution in two regional healthcare ecosystems (Catalonia and Lisbon) and its European commercialisation.
The MJN-SERAS is a wearable, discreet, and non-invasive medical device designed to predict epileptic seizures with high reliability and help drug-resistant epilepsy-affected people to become more independent, reduce their risk of injury, and improve their quality of life. EIT Health is supporting the clinical validation of the solution through an international and multicentric study.
The SAVE-COR solution, ACORYS®, is a non-invasive mapping system and deep-learning assisted decision-making tool for supporting physicians prescribing and performing arrhythmia therapy. The device identifies the origin of the arrhythmia, increasing the efficacy rate of arrhythmia catheter ablation. EIT Health is supporting the team with clinical validation and to obtain the CE mark for European commercialisation.
RetinaReadRisk is a telemedicine platform for the early detection and diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy in urban and rural areas, combining artificial intelligence models and 5G technologies. EIT Health is supporting the development of the platform, clinical validation, and market and competitor analysis.
The VALUE solution is a new framework, designed to support clinical, stechnical, and management staff to adopt value-based healthcare approaches. With this new technology and a new method such as interactive process mining techniques, the team aims to discover and optimise real clinical pathways to foster a collaborative change. EIT Health is supporting the solution from the start, the validation for the commercialisation strategy, and the adoption, sales and scalability in other health systems.
The Healthcare Transformation Academy offers high-quality and affordable on-demand courses in innovation management, high-value care, digital transformation, and leadership to European healthcare professionals. The courses are developed by and offered by hospitals and organisations across Europe and beyond, with the highest level of relevant and specialised expertise in the field.
The ENERGHY Summer School empowers postgraduate students, researchers and young professionals to create new business models with global citizen-centric solutions aimed at democratising health, including global health challenges comprised in the Sustainable Development Goals, the Green Deal and the NextGenerationEU.
HALIGN uses a simulation game to cover a wide spectrum of the complex health ecosystem. The course provides an understanding of how different stakeholders’ perspectives should be aligned across the healthcare ecosystem, as well as suggesting the knowledge and tools required to achieve this.
i-Days promote health innovation among university students through dozens of one-day and two-day programmes held in academic institutions around Europe. Students receive an introduction to practical health innovation tools and compete in teams to tackle real-life health challenges posed by EIT Health, local organisations, private corporations or start-ups.
Science4Pandemics is an online game that teaches young people, particularly adolescents, about infectious diseases. This educational initiative aims to enhance people’s understanding of pandemics, equip them with important skills in resource management and decision-making, and improve their knowledge of measures to prevent and mitigate pandemics.
The Network IQ Alliance is a community that aims to create a systemic impact in higher education at the institutional level by integrating innovation and entrepreneurship into the core strategies of higher education institutions (HEIs), building leadership capacity to execute them and connecting them better with their city-level ecosystems and globally through network intelligence (nIQ), a system-change methodology developing digital competencies at the ecosystem level for innovation and networking.
TRUE – Transforming Universities Towards Entrepreneurship – is a project funded by the EIT HEI Initiative that promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in the educational field. The mission of this project is to remove the obstacles in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship and reduce the gap between entrepreneurship, teaching and research.
The Women Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is an acceleration programme that provides intensive business and product training, mentoring and networking opportunities for early-stage, womenled or co-led healthcare start-ups, connecting them to an unparalleled network of mentors to nurture and support rapid growth.
